"Little Man" 2005

The Little Man

“The Little Man” has become my alter ego. This installation consisted of a realistic nude mannequin prone in a glass box with “the little man” standing at her feet. He is in awe of her. He is very well dressed and well mannered. He is completely dominated by the large women and he is comfortable with that. The mannequin is made by the Rootstein Company in London patterned exactly after a real human model. I have given her pubic hair and red stiletto high heel shoes. The entire work is viewed through a small opening behind the woman’s head. “The little man” is illuminated by a small spot light. The voyeuristic nature of the piece evokes Marcell Dunchamp’s “Etant Donnes” in the Philadelphia museum. This piece was rejected by Art Maui and exhibited in the “Salon Des Refuse” in a gallery in Wailuku, Hi.
